FAQs about Alliance Bank’s Foreign Share Trading

You are required to open an Alliance Share Trading account through Alliance Bank. This share trading account will allow you to trade in both local (Bursa) and foreign shares.

To open an account, you may contact a dedicated bank dealer at our Share Trading Center (STC).

The required documents are as follows:
For individual account
  • Copy of NRIC or passport (for non-Malaysians)
  • Copy of income supporting document (i.e., latest BE/EA Form or Salary slip or bank statement or CDS/Stockbroker Statement)
  • Application form

For company accounts
  • Board Resolution
  • Latest 3 months bank statements
  • Certified True Copy (CTC) of the latest Audited Accounts
  • Copy of Directors’ NRIC
  • Copy of the guarantor’s NRIC
  • All guarantors’ latest pay slip/bank statement/EA/BE/CDS statement
  • Application form

In accordance to the Companies Act 1965, the following documents are required:
  • Certified True Copy (CTC) of Memorandum and Articles of Association/By-Laws
  • CTC of Form 8 or 9 - Certification of Incorporation
  • CTC of Form 13 - Change of Company Name (if applicable)
  • CTC of Form 24 - Return of Allotment of Shares
  • CTC of Form 44 - Notification of Situation of Registered Office
  • CTC of Form 49 - Particulars of Directors, Managers and Secretaries

In accordance to the Companies Act 2016, the following documents are required:
  • Certified True Copy (CTC) of Constitution (duly signed declaration of company does not have a constitution)
  • CTC of Sections 14 & 15 - Application & Notice of Registration
  • CTC of Forms 58 & 236(2) - Notification of Appointment of First Secretary
  • CTC of Form under Section 78 - Return of Allotment of Shares
  • CTC of Form under section 58 - Notification of Change in the Register of Directors, Managers and Secretaries
  • CTC of Section 46(3) - Notification of Change in the Registered Address

After your account is opened, you will receive an account opening notification letter and SMS notification from the bank. You can only start trading after depositing cash into your settlement account and/or transferring collateral into your CDS account.

It is important to take note that trading of foreign shares can only be submitted through our STC bank dealer. You are required to call the STC where your trading account is with.

Yes, you can access it from anywhere and at anytime with our Share Trading online/mobile trading platform, allowing you to view your account position.

No, there is no minimum amount required.

  1. The bank dealer will update you the trade confirmation once the order is matched.
  2. Alternatively, you could also obtain the trade confirmation details on our online/mobile trading platform. The option to view the trade confirmation is available on the Uncleared Trades Enquiry screen.

You need to call our STC to make changes or withdrawal on orders for foreign share that have not yet been matched. Once an order is fully matched, further changes or withdrawals are not allowed.  

Settlement of contracts are denominated in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR).

The option to view your trading limits is available on the “Account Summary” screen of our online/mobile trading platform.

Yes, you will receive a monthly statement from Alliance Bank.

Yes, contract notes will be issued on the day after following trade (T+1) by the broker appointed by Alliance Bank.

Each foreign stock exchange has its respective own specific settlement date.

The Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore settlement dates are “T+2”. However, for the U.S., the settlement date is “T+1”.
