New partners Halal Development Corporation, Halnex Sdn Bhd and Halal Street UK offer expertise to help businesses venture into the halal segment.
Kuala Lumpur, 20 October 2020 - Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad (“Alliance Islamic Bank”) today expands its Halal in One ecosystem by inking a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with Halal Development Corporation (HDC), Halnex Sdn Bhd (Halnex), and Halal Street UK.
This new halal collaboration will provide for a wide range of market access and support proposition to businesses interested in venturing into, and growing in the rapidly expanding halal market.
“We welcome HDC, Halnex, and Halal Street UK into the Halal in One Programme. All three partners bring with them years of experience in mentoring and providing opportunities to businesses with ambitions to thrive successfully in the dynamic halal market,” said Alliance Islamic Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, En. Rizal IL-Ehzan bin Fadil Azim.
“We are pleased to be working with like-minded collaborators who share our aspiration of a thriving Halal economy driven by SMEs. By being a part of the Halal in One ecosystem, we and our partners, new and existing, are providing SMEs a convenient platform to get all the help they need to sustain and grow their business in the current environment and in times to come. By making this support available digitally, we hope that SMEs nationwide will take the opportunity to be more Halal ready, to tap Halal business opportunities, and to seek Halal banking support via Halal in One.”
Alliance Islamic Bank’s Halal in One Programme offers an integrated halal business proposition that includes coaching and training, business matching, certification support, halal funding, and advisory services to help businesses capitalise on the opportunities in the halal industry. The Bank offers businesses shariah-compliant financing tailored to the needs of the SMEs.
The new partner, Halal Development Corporation (HDC), is a federal government agency with a mandate to promote and boost Malaysia as a leader in the global halal industry. HDC provides businesses with halal readiness assessments, training, and opportunities to tap into the halal business network.
Through this partnership, businesses enrolled in the Halal in One Programme will have access to HDC’s Halal Integrated Platform (HIP), a social networking and e-commerce marketplace that connects global halal players, ministries, government agencies, investors, entrepreneurs and financial services.
The second new partner, Halnex, offers digitised halal consultation support and online readiness assessment at a minimal fee. This revolutionary digital platform for halal and quality certification offers a unique certification experience for Halal aspirants and expands access for certification support to SMEs located outside of Klang Valley.
Halal Street UK is a halal e-market place based in the United Kingdom (UK), with a focus on providing multiple e-platforms where Malaysian SMEs can list their products on a business-to-consumer (B2C) or business-to-business (B2B) basis to meet the halal market demands in the UK.
These new services complement Alliance Islamic Bank’s existing collaboration with HQC Commerce Sdn Bhd (HQC Commerce), who was the first partner to join Halal in One and is also a strategic partner of the Malaysia International Halal Academy (MIHA). HQC Commerce helps businesses with their halal certification process as a consultant recognised by Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) to provide coaching, advisory, training, and capacity development programmes for halal aspirants.
One SME that recently joined the Halal in One programme is Kuuvancha (M) Sdn Bhd, operator of the Tea Garden restaurant chain that serves traditional Nanyang food and beverages through its 30 outlets in Malaysia, Australia, and China. Ms. Tan Soo Hui, Executive Director of Kuuvancha (M) Sdn Bhd said, ““We have been serving pork-free dining for the last 10 years. By embarking on this halal certification journey with Halal in One programme, we look forward to provide our customers with added confidence in our products and growing our business further. Alliance Islamic Bank is supporting us in realising our vision to promote the traditional flavours of Nan Yang cuisine to the global community.”
