Alliance Bank Offers Flood Relief Assistance and Launches Fundraising Campaign

Press Release

Kuala Lumpur, 3 February 2025 - Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (“Alliance Bank” or the “Bank”) today has announced a Flood Relief Assistance programme to help ease some of the financial burdens faced by customers impacted by the recent floods in Sabah and Sarawak.

These comprise options of a loan moratorium of up to six months, loan repayment modifications, and waivers of fee and charges for customers and businesses that have been affected by the flood situation in several states nationwide.

“Our primary concern is the well-being of our affected customers as we understand the emotional and financial strain on the families and businesses impacted by the flood. As The Bank For Life, Alliance Bank stands by our customers, especially during these challenging times. We hope that the Flood Relief Assistance programme will encourage them to come forward to discuss how we can help ease some of their financial burdens,” said Mr. Kellee Kam, Group Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Bank. The Bank is also assisting its employees affected by the flood to help them through this difficult time.

The Flood Relief Assistance is now open for application from now until 3 March 2025. It offers payment relief on all conventional loans and Islamic financing facilities. The Bank will also waive fees and charges for selected services such as replacement of debit card, ATM cards, cheque books and passbooks lost or damaged during the flood.

To find out more about the flood relief assistance, affected customers may contact our Customer Service at 03-5516 9988 or their relationship managers directly. All requests for assistance will be assessed by the Bank on a case-by-case basis.

Earlier, Alliance Bank also announced another initiative to support communities affected by the recent floods in Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu through a Flood Relief fundraising campaign on its SocioBiz crowdfunding platform under Alliance Islamic Bank. This initiative is now extended to those affected by the floods in Sabah and Sarawak. To maximise the impact, the Bank will match every RM1 donated with RM2, effectively tripling the contributions to aid flood victims.

The campaign, which runs from 20 December 2024 to 28 February 2025, invites all Malaysians to participate and support those in need. Funds raised will be directed to the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), a trusted partner known for its effective disaster relief efforts.

The Bank's initiative aims to address both immediate and long-term needs of flood victims through a two-phase approach. Phase 1 will focus on essential items such as ready-to-eat food, baby essentials, bedding sets, dignity kits and other critical items required. Additional support, which includes kitchen appliances, medical relief (Mobile Clinic), cleaning equipment and food packs will be provided in Phase 2 to cover post-flood necessities.
