Revision of Alliance Debit Card/Debit Card-i Terms and Conditions, and Debit Card Product Disclosure Sheet (PDS)

We wish to inform you that Alliance Debit Card/Debit Card-i Terms and Conditions and Debit Card Product Disclosure Sheet (PDS) have been revised, effective 31 July 2024.
 
  1. Debit Card Terms and Conditions
    For ease of reference, a tabulation of the amendments/ revised clauses is set out in the table below

    Terms and Conditions The Terms and Conditions herein shall govern the use of your ATM Card/Debit Card/Debit Card-i (“Debit Card”) issued by Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad or Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad (“the Bank”), which is binding on you. The Terms and Conditions herein shall govern the use of your ATM Card/Alliance Bank Debit Card (“Debit Card”) issued by Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (“the Bank”) for your Conventional or Islamic account (“Account”), which is binding on you
    Terms and Conditions These Terms and Conditions herein shall also be read as a whole together with the Bank’s Deposits Terms and Conditions, Conditions for allianceonline Service, and any other relevant terms and conditions in respect of the Account, as well as other rules and regulations as may be binding on and/or applicable to the Bank from time to time. These Terms and Conditions herein shall also be read as a whole together with the Bank’s Deposits (Individual Customer) Terms and Conditions, Islamic Deposit Terms & Conditions, allianceonline Terms and Conditions, and any other relevant terms and conditions in respect of the Account, as well as other rules and regulations as may be binding on and/or applicable to the Bank from time to time.
    1.1 “Account” means the Current Account/-i and/or Savings Account/-i which the Cardholder has or may have with the Bank at any time and includes those accounts opened by the account holder from time to time. “Account” means the Conventional or Islamic Current Account (“Current Account or Current Account-i”) and/or Conventional or Islamic Savings Account (“Savings Account or Savings Account-i”) which the Cardholder has or may have with the Bank at any time and includes those accounts opened by the account holder from time to time.
      “Auto-Debit” means the recurring payments which the Cardholder makes via the Debit Card for payment of insurances/takaful, bills and/or other services that the Bank may provide and/or introduce from time to time. “Bank” means either Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad or Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad and includes its successors in title and assigns. “Auto-Debit” means the recurring payments which the Cardholder makes via the Debit Card for payment of insurances/takaful, bills and/or other services that Alliance Bank or Alliance Islamic Bank including their successors in title or assigns may provide and/or introduce from time to time.
      “Debit Card/Debit Card-i” shall mean any Mastercard/MEPS/MyDebit branded card or ATM Card (where applicable) issued by the Bank under such category (ies) and/or type(s) as may be determined by the Bank from time to time which may be issued in affiliation or in association with any third party and/or under any product, select name and/or references including any replacement thereof issued by the Bank to the Cardholder. “Debit Card” shall mean any Mastercard/MEPS/MyDebit branded card or ATM Card (where applicable) issued by the Bank under such category (ies) and/or type(s) as may be determined by the Bank from time to time which may be issued in affiliation or in association with any third party and/or under any product, select name and/or references including any replacement thereof issued by the Bank to the Cardholder.
    2.2 Debit Cards applied via the allianceonline mobile app (applicable for accounts opened via the allianceonline mobile app using Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) only) will be delivered to the Cardholder at the registered address specified in the application. Debit Card/Debit Card-i will be delivered to the Cardholder within 14 days after the first deposit is made into the newly opened account is successful via online transfer. Debit Cards applied via the allianceonline mobile app (applicable for accounts opened via the allianceonline mobile app using Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) only) will be delivered to the Cardholder at the registered address specified in the application. Debit Card will be delivered to the Cardholder within 14 days after the first deposit is made into the newly opened account is successful via online transfer.
    2.4 The Cardholder acknowledges and agrees that:
    1. the Cash Withdrawals and MyDebit Retail Purchases made using the Debit Card are subject to the ATM Limit set by the Cardholder, subject always to the maximum limit allowable by the Bank;
    2. the Debit Card shall be linked to the Account(s) belonging to the Cardholder to conduct transactions;
    The Cardholder acknowledges and agrees that:
    1. the Cash Withdrawals and MyDebit Retail Purchases made using the Debit Card are subject to the ATM Limit set by the Cardholder, subject always to the maximum limit allowable by the Bank. If a Debit Card is tagged to a Junior Smart Saver-i Account, the maximum limit for withdrawal per month is RM500.00 and the withdrawal limit may be changed to a lower limit via request made over the counter at any of the Bank’s branches. Only the parent or the legal guardian is allowed to set the ATM Limit;
    2. the Debit Card shall be linked to the Account(s) belonging to the Cardholder to conduct transactions
    2.9 The use of the Debit Card by the Cardholder shall be governed by the Terms and Conditions herein, including all requirements, directives, regulations, and guidelines in relation thereto issued by the Bank and any authority having jurisdiction over the Bank, at any time and from time to time.     Cardholders may use the Debit Card for any transactions. If the Designated Account linked to a Debit Card is a Savings Account-i or Current Account-i, the Debit Card should only be used for the purchase of Shariah-compliant goods and services only.
    4.4 If the Cardholder’s Account is overdrawn, the Cardholder shall, on demand by the Bank, make good the amount overdrawn plus any interest thereon which shall be calculated based on the Bank’s prevailing interest rate (not applicable for Debit Card-i).     9.2 The Cardholder shall notify the Bank immediately upon receiving a short message service (SMS) transaction alert if the transaction was unauthorised. If the Cardholder suspects or become aware, whether through a short message service (SMS) transaction alert from the Bank relating to a transaction performed using Cardholder’s Debit Card or otherwise, the Cardholder must immediately notify the Bank of the same
    26.2 The Cardholder authorises the Bank, from time to time, to access, obtain, verify and/or use any data or information from any source (including credit reference agencies, Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”), the Credit Bureau and/or the Central Credit Reference Information System (“CCRIS”) and such relevant authorities) for purpose of evaluation of credit standing, usage of this product and any facility or service that the Cardholder has or may have (whether or not with the Bank) -. Debit Card-I In addition to the above Terms and Conditions, the following terms and conditions shall apply to the Debit Card-i. (Only applicable for Current Account-i and Savings Account-i)
    1. The Debit Card-i is issued based on the “Ijarah” concept which means a contract of leasing of such asset or wages of such labour for a predetermined duration and at a pre-determined charge or wage (as the case may be).
    2. In the context of the Debit Card-i, it refers to the Cardholder agreeing to lease the Debit Card facility/service from the Bank for an annual Ujrah (fee) which usage shall be governed by and subject to the terms and conditions contained herein, including those contained in the Bank’s Deposits Terms and Conditions, Conditions for allianceonline Services, and any other relevant terms and conditions in respect of the Account, as well as other rules and regulations as may be binding on and/or applicable to the Bank from time to time.
    The Cardholder authorises the Bank, from time to time, to access, obtain, verify and/or use any data or information from any source (including credit reference agencies, Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”), the Credit Bureau and/or the Central Credit Reference Information System (“CCRIS”) and such relevant authorities) for purpose of evaluation of credit standing, usage of this product and any facility or service that the Cardholder has or may have (whether or not with the Bank).

    1 What is this product about?
    The Alliance Bank Debit Card (“Debit Card”) and Alliance Islamic Bank Debit Card-i (“Debit Card-i”) are payment instruments cum Automated Teller Machine (“ATM”) cards that allow you to pay for goods and services from your deposit account at participating retail and service outlets. The Debit Card or Debit Card-i also allows you to withdraw cash at ATMs worldwide. You are required to maintain an eligible deposit account with us, to be linked to your Debit Card or Debit Card-i. If you close your eligible deposit account with us, you will not be able to perform any transaction(s) via the Debit Card or Debit Card-i.

    The Debit Card-i is based on the Shariah concept of Ijarah (lease) which means a contract of leasing or wages of an asset or labour at pre-determined leasing charges/wages and duration. In the context of the Debit Card-i, it refers to the Cardholder agreeing to lease the card facility and service from the Bank for an annual Ujrah (fee) and the usage of the Debit Card-i shall be subject to the applicable General Terms and Conditions on the Bank’s website or as attached hereto.

    6 What are the major risks?
    You should never disclose the details of your Debit Card or Debit Card-i or PIN number to other parties and should always keep them with you at all times and take prudent measures or precautions to prevent the loss, misuse and/or abuse of your Debit Card or Debit Card-i and your PIN number.

    If your Debit Card or Debit Card-i is lost or stolen, you must notify us immediately at 03-5516 9988 to block your lost or stolen Debit Card or Debit Card-i.
    What are the major risks?
    You should never disclose the details of your Debit Card or PIN number to other parties and should always keep them with you at all times and take prudent measures or precautions to prevent the loss, misuse and/or abuse of your Debit Card and your PIN number.

    If your Debit Card is lost or stolen, you must notify us immediately at 03-5516 9988 to block your lost or stolen Debit Card.
