Kuala Lumpur, 20 December 2024 - Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (“Alliance Bank” or the “Bank”) has announced an initiative to support communities affected by the recent floods through a Flood Relief fundraising campaign on its SocioBiz crowdfunding platform under Alliance Islamic Bank. In a bid to maximise the impact, the Bank will match every RM1 donated with RM2, effectively tripling the contributions to aid flood victims.
The campaign, which runs from 20 December 2024 to 20 February 2025, invites all Malaysians to participate and support those in need. Funds raised will be directed to the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), a trusted partner known for its effective disaster relief efforts.
The Bank's initiative aims to address both immediate and long-term needs of flood victims through a two-phase approach. Phase 1 will focus on essential items such as ready-to-eat food, baby essentials, bedding sets, dignity kits and other critical items required. Additional support, which includes kitchen appliances, medical relief (Mobile Clinic), cleaning equipment and food packs will be provided in Phase 2 to cover post-flood necessities
In addition to fundraising, Alliance Bank has rolled out measures to ease the financial burden of affected customers, including offering a moratorium of up to six months and loan repayment modifications for flood affected customers. Furthermore, the Bank will waive finance and fee charges for selected services, such as the replacement of debit and ATM cards.
“Due to the recent floods, many Malaysians face financial, physical and emotional impact to their daily lives. We understand their challenges and want to do our part to help them recover from this disaster and rebuild their lives,” said En. Rizal IL-Ehzan Fadil Azim, Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Islamic Bank.
